The Competition model has the hardware to mount Rottefella or Salomon screw-in bindings. This means you can grab your cross-country ski boots (boots for skate technique with ankle support) and hit the rink. Your heel is unattached to the blade allowing you to further extend your push and get the 'clap skate feel'. Surprisingly easy to get the hang of using. The front of the runner is blunt. The reason for this is to make it easier to take turns on the 400-meter oval. The quality of the runner is the same as used in top competition skates.
